Kaya

Terms of Service

Last updated 22 September 2026

Kaya connects people who make things from home with people who want to buy them. These terms explain how the platform works, what you can expect from us, and what you're responsible for.

In short. Kaya lists home-based businesses and facilitates communication between buyers and sellers. We are not a party to any transaction, and we do not make, handle, prepare, or inspect anything sold through the platform — food included.

1. Acceptance of these terms

"Kaya," "we," and "us" refer to the operators of this platform. "You" refers to anyone using it — whether browsing, ordering, or running a shop. By using Kaya, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

A seeker is anyone who browses listings, messages a shop, or places an order — whether or not they also run a shop themselves. A maker is anyone who lists and runs a shop on Kaya. Many people are both: running a shop does not stop you from ordering elsewhere on the platform as a seeker, and these terms apply to you in whichever capacity you are acting.

Kaya operates from, and is intended for use in, Singapore. Every listed business operates from a home in Singapore, and all collections take place there.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Kaya. If you are under 18, you may browse, order, and message a maker, but you may not create a maker account or list a business — see Section 4.

2. What Kaya provides

Kaya publishes listings, enables search, and carries order requests and messages between seekers and makers. Specifically:

  • We are not a party to your order. Any contract formed is between you and the maker. We are not their agent or guarantor.
  • Collection only. Orders are collected in person at a location the maker sets. We do not arrange or insure delivery.
  • Listings are self-published. Makers write and publish their own shop pages. We do not review listings before they go live, and we do not inspect any maker's home or workspace.

3. Placing an order

A shop indicates whether it accepts requests or bookings.

Request-based shops: an order is a request. Nothing is owed until the maker accepts it.

Booking-based shops: you select a collection slot from a published timetable. Because the maker has already committed that capacity, the slot is held immediately and you proceed straight to payment.

From there:

  • Placing an order or leaving a review requires an account with a verified email address. Browsing, saving shops, and messaging do not.
  • At request-based shops, the maker accepts or declines. A decline releases anything reserved for you at no cost.
  • At booking-based shops, an unpaid booking is released after 30 minutes. You may move your collection time up to two hours beforehand; the maker may cancel and must return any payment already made.
  • Payment is made directly to the maker via PayNow. You mark payment as sent, and the maker confirms it. The collection address is released once payment is confirmed.
  • Some items require a deposit, shown before you order and on the order itself. A deposit secures your place and is not refunded if you do not collect.
  • Prices, ingredients, allergens, portion sizes, and preparation and collection times are set by the maker and displayed as provided.
  • Cancellations, refunds, and disputes over an order are between you and the maker.

4. Selling on Kaya

Listing is free. To list a business, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be the registered owner, an authorised occupier, or a tenant of the residential address you list, with the right to operate a home-based business from it.

You are also responsible for your shop:

  • Everything you list must be accurate.
  • You must hold whatever licences and approvals your trade actually needs — and if you sell food, follow Singapore's food safety and labelling rules. This is your responsibility, not ours, and nothing here is advice on what you need.
  • Only upload photographs you have the right to use, and that relate to your shop.
  • Honour orders you accept or that your timetable committed you to. If you cannot fulfil one, say so before the buyer travels, and return any payment received.
  • You retain ownership of your listing content. Publishing it grants us a licence to display it on Kaya; that licence ends when you remove the listing.

5. Trust badges

A shop may display a food hygiene, business registration, or halal certification badge. A badge is never self-awarded — it is reviewed by an administrator before it appears, and it disappears automatically once the underlying certificate expires.

This confirms that a certificate exists and names that business. It is not an inspection by us and not a guarantee that operations match the certificate. Certification is issued and withdrawn by the relevant authority.

6. Reviews

Only buyers who placed an order may leave a review. We do not edit reviews, and makers cannot delete them.

We may remove a review that is abusive, unrelated to the order, identifies an individual, or is not from a genuine customer. Persistently low ratings may result in a temporary restriction on a shop's ability to take new orders; existing orders remain unaffected.

7. Conduct

  • Be civil. No abuse, threats, harassment, or spam.
  • Honour commitments to collect or fulfil orders.
  • Use messaging for matters related to the shop or order.
  • Do not misrepresent who you are.

Collections take place in person, at a location set by the maker. We do not supervise or attend collections and do not vet either party. Use appropriate judgement, and treat any safety incident as a matter for the police.

Disputes between a seeker and a maker are theirs to resolve. We are not an arbitrator and do not adjudicate disputes, though we may act on our own platform under Section 8.

Arrangements made outside Kaya are not covered by these terms, and we hold no record of them.

Conduct concerns can be reported using Report maker on a shop page, Report order on an order, or via Contact us.

8. Suspension and removal

We may remove a listing, restrict a maker, or close an account where conduct is unsafe, dishonest, unlawful, or harmful to others on the platform. We will generally provide notice first, but may act immediately where safety is at risk.

You may stop using Kaya at any time. Makers may unpublish their own shop at any time.

9. Disclaimers

Kaya is provided "as is." We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of any listing, that a maker will accept or fulfil an order, or that anything offered is fit for a particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from an order or from any dealing between a seeker and a maker. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Singapore law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your own conduct — what you sold, what you wrote, unauthorised content you uploaded, or your treatment of another user — to the extent permitted by law. This does not extend to claims arising from our own acts.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the platform. The date below reflects the last revision.

Listing is currently free. Any change to this will be communicated to makers in advance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any related dispute.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms can be directed to Contact us. Concerns about a specific listing can be reported directly from its page. Our data practices are set out in the Privacy Policy.
